How do I apply for Medicare?
The easiest way to apply for Original Medicare is via the Social Security website. There is a quick Medicare application that should take you no longer than 10 minutes. Just visit here.
When should I apply for Medicare?
You have a 7-month window to apply for Original Medicare: during the 3 months prior to your 65th birthday month, the month of your birthday, and the 3 months after your 65th birthday.
How do I apply for a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement Plan?
Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement Plans are offered through private insurance companies. Our friendly licensed insurance agents can help you to find a program that meets your needs and budget. Remember, there is no cost to use our service. Simply call (818) 438-0796 to speak with a licensed insurance agent.
What if I missed my Initial Enrollment Period?
You missed your 7-month window for enrolling in Medicare, your next opportunity to enroll in Part A and Part B will be during the General Enrollment Period, January 1-March 31. Coverage will then become effective on the first of the month following your enrollment date. For instance, if you enroll on February 10, your coverage will go into effect on March 1st.
Can I apply for Medicare in person?
Yes you can, but you’ll need to go to a local Social Security office to apply in person. If you’d like to apply for a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement Plan in person, simply contact our office and request an appointment. Please note, you’ll need to apply for Original Medicare before you can enroll in a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement Plan.
Are there penalties for enrolling late?
Yes! If you do not enroll in Part B coverage during your Initial Enrollment Period, you could be subject to premium penalties for as long as you have Medicare coverage.
